About Dolifor Centre
Dolifor is a 17th Century former farmhouse located in the glorious scenery of the Elan Valley in rural mid-Wales, just 30 minutes from the border with England. Our own track is accessed off a local lane, so is very peaceful and enjoys far ranging views. Those who stay with us can walk through the many local woods and take time to observe the various birds native to the area. The Elan valley area is a protected environment for the diversity of fauna and flora that thrive within it. There is much to explore in the area of the lakes of the Elan Valley and the Cambrian Mountains from the front door. The Elan Valley Trail itself starts a kilometre away giving The Rhayader Loop 18 miles of track and road to walk or cycle. The rivers Wye and Elan are both within close walking distance below the house. The source of the river Wye and the Severn lay just a few miles to the North of Dolifor.
The market town of Rhayader is just 2.5 miles away and has excellent facilities and amenities as does nearby Builth Wells at 11.5 miles and Llandrindod Wells some 13 miles away. The coast at Aberystwyth is about an hours drive so there are many options for exploring and enjoying the area. The town of Brecon is 30 miles to the South with the Brecon Beacons close by and to the North just 36 miles away lies the Snowdonia National Park.
Who we are
Chris and Helena Parker moved to Dolifor in July 2017 having previously both worked at desk based roles in a number of different environments within the public and private sector. Our long term interests and passions though have always been with health, lifestyle, nature, sustainability and spirituality. Our goal is to develop Dolifor into a centre for continuous education in health and sustainable lifestyle for our local community as well as for those who stay with us. Our vision coincides with many of the objectives as set out in the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015.
